Wisconsin and EAA

We took a vacation to Wisconsin with Derek's parents and Derek and his dad went to EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh. The guys wandered around the air show and Derek's Mom, Abigail, and I hung out at the cottage. (The photos are in random order)

The cottage we rented was on Lake Poygan. I'm actually sleeping in the hammaock:
This trip (and this photo) are becoming a tradition for these guys:
They stayed for the night show one of the days and got some really neat photos!

Abigail definitely missed having her Grandma and Grandpa entertaining her in the backseat all the time.

We towed a small fishing boat behind our Mazda and went out on Lake Poygan and few times.
We took our fishing gear because we heard people were "hauling in the Walleye" and dreamed having a big Fish Fry one night.
... we caught a few tiny perch, some sheepshead, and a bluegill... nothing worth keeping or eating.
But we had fun!

Woodchip Campground

We went camping with our Life Group from church July 23-25. We tried a new [to us] campground in Byron Center. It was hot and muggy so we had the ac on in the trailer at night and slept great. During the day we did a lot of swimming and playing on the playground right behind our sites.

Jazz Girl

At a cousin's wedding, we discovered Abigail really enjoys jazz music. They had a live band that played right behind her and she hardly stopped moving the whole night!

Crawling! Smile!

These are the two things she's "mastered" recently: crawling and this cheesy scrunch-up-the-nose smile when you say "Smile Abigail!" makes me laugh every time.

Date night

It was Date Night and we had a gift card so we sate at Applebees in Grandville.

South Haven

It was such a hot and sticky day so in the evening we headed to South Haven to walk downtown and on the pier... and of course stop at Sherman's for ice cream.

Doing her best to avoid me in her face with a camera. "Look at mommy! Hey Abigail! Who's here?! [whistle] Hey! Can you smile for Mommy?! Hellooo! C'mon, you hot dog!"

Dan & Sarah's Wedding

Since we were both in the wedding party we didn't take our camera out very much, and not at all until we sat down at the reception. The husband of one of the bridesmaids took video footage of the 3 of us walking down the aisle. I'll try to edit that small enough to post on here [sometime].

What a Hunk!

Air Zoo

We went to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo to celebrate Derek's Dad's retirement. I made everyone play a game. he he
Abigail just ran around the conference room. She also rode some of the kiddy rides (airplanes and hot air balloons).
We had a delicious lasagna lunch. Congratulations Dad!

Mommy's first trip away

I had the chance to fly out to Boston to visit my sister-in-law a few weeks ago. My other sister-in-law went with me so we could attend her bachelorette party, meet her friends, and just hang out around the city before she gets hitched. Derek and Abigail did great - with the help of grandparents for babysitting. Here's Sarah and her giant rock:
 The sisters enjoying some "juice":
Walking through the Boston Public Gardens (you cannot go to Boston and not do that, seriously). Oh, and do you see the family resemblance?... you know me being like a full head taller than those girls!! It just means I can walk faster...
Ha, ha. We had to get our photo with these guys at Quincy Market. They had the best British accents... after the photo we found out they are from England and are here as exchange students. It's kind of ironic, and insulting maybe?, to have them dress like this don't you think?
