The Road Less Traveled
Life is just zipping by. I know everyone says kids grow fast but I didn't believe until I had my own and have already had to pack away her first outfits that have grown too tight on her!
Since my last blog entry I have turned in my school laptop that I've had for the past 5 years. I didn't realize just how handy it was until now. I am online a whole lot less though and check my email about once a day (instead of once an hour!). I now work off Derek's college desktop in our office in the basement, which is rather slow and dated (hint: his 10 year HS reunion is this Saturday!).
While I'm updating the blog (which may include some post-dated entries) I thought I'd share a link I just found on our old Power Mac. It is from Derek's Senior Engineering Project:
The Road Less Traveled
Enjoy.

Traverse City
We planned this vacation very last minute. We stayed in a cottage we found on VRBO.com and headed up to Traverse City. We picked up Derek in GR on our way up north Friday night. We spent the day Saturday in Empire, watched a little hometown parade and did some hiking and sightseeing in Sleeping Bear Dunes.
You can see Sleeping Bear Dunes behind us. We are hiking the Empire Bluffs. She's a little small for the jogger yet so we wedged a towel next to her to hold her in place a bit (along with her 5-point harness mind you).

We also did our usual drive out to Old Mission point and stopped at a winery on our way. Derek and I did some wine tasting and Abigail whined too.

5 Year Anniversary
Today I celebrate 5 years of marriage with my best friend. I think we're going to the drive-in movie theater with our 5 week old. It's true that each year just gets better and better. I thought I was the happiest I'd ever be on that hot day 5 years ago, but here I am, with spit-up on my shoulder, thawing out some lasagna for supper... and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Love you, Derek!

Newaygo
Our first vacation of the summer ! We spent the weekend at the cabin the Muskegon River. Derek is getting Abigail ready for baptism... or just watching the rafters float by. Grilling out over charcoal... Mmm...
It. Was. A. Hot. Weekend.
Don't worry folks she was in the shade and had on her 400 spf sunglasses...

One Month Old
Abigail received these neat stickers to help track her first year's growth from our friends Ron and Jen. Hopefully I'll remember to do this each month!
At One Month Old Abigail...
...sleeps 3-4 hours at night. She went 4.5 hours one night. She fusses anywhere from 9pm-1am before she really is down for the night. Then Abigail and I can sleep in until 9am and even 11am sometimes to make up for the late bedtime. Dad isn't as fortunate to get that sleep since he's off to work at 6am, but he doesn't have to feed her either. She has no nap schedule but sleeps on and off and likes to be held. She doesn't always like being flat on her back in her bassinet and will sometimes fall asleep on Daddy's tummy, or nursing in the chair with me or in her Baby Papasan.
...eats Mama's Milk. She is great at nursing and seems to be gaining weight. She eats every three hours, even at night.
...plays ... hmm... not much here yet. Although she does connect with your eyes and can focus on things. She can even follow an object for a little bit if it is right in front of her face. She has no real control over her arms and legs movements, they just kick and swing randomly yet.
...wears Newborn and 0-3 Months but is quickly outgrowing the NB size! She still wears NB size diapers.
...weighs (8lbs. 15 oz. at her 2 week appt.)
...is 21 inches tall.
